Made from flexible polymer materials, it absorbs impact energy and reduces damage caused by forklift collisions. It is designed for warehouse rack protection, providing reliable safety performance in high-traffic aisles, corners, and storage areas.

Steel or HDPE: Which Rack Protector Is Right for You

If the project involves heavy-duty storage, racking systems with high-level racks, or those equipped with forklifts capable of handling heavy loads, a steel rack protector is usually a more reliable choice for you.
It is fabricated by welding high-strength steel and can directly withstand the external forces generated by forklift impacts, providing sturdy and reliable protection for the rack. Compared to flexible protection, steel rack protectors are more suitable for heavy-duty racking and high-load storage applications.

Made from high-tough HDPE material, the flexible rack protector can absorb and disperse part of the impact energy when subjected to an impact. After the impact, it can restore its original shape. While protecting the upright posts, it also helps to reduce the impact on forklifts.
Compared with steel products, the HDPE rack protector is lighter in weight, easier to install, and does not require complex construction. It is more suitable for automated warehouses and cold chain warehouses. It can effectively reduce the later maintenance and replacement costs.
No. It is recommended for you to install it at the positions where forklifts are most likely to collide, such as the racking passage entrance, the end posts, the main passage’s both sides, the loading and unloading area, and the turning area.

No. Our rack protector is installed on the outside of the upright frames and is only used as a collision protection device. It does not belong to the load-bearing structure, so it will not affect the original rated load-bearing capacity of the racks.
Yes. Rack protector is both suitable for new warehouses and the security upgrade projects of existing warehouses. Most of the rack protectors do not require dismantling the main rack structure. They can be installed at the bottom of the rack uprights to complete the renovation, and have a relatively small impact on the normal operation for the warehouse.

Steel rack protectors usually need to be fixed to the concrete ground using expansion bolts or anchor bolts, providing a more stable protective effect.
While our HDPE flexible rack protector is generally installed on the rack uprights using snap-in clips or dedicated fasteners. Most models do not require drilling holes in the ground and will not affect your existing warehouse floor.
We recommend that you determine the dimensions based on a comprehensive assessment of the rack uprights’ width, depth, and base dimensions, as well as the forklift operating environment.
If the dimensions are too small, the uprights may not be effectively protected. If they are too large, they may obstruct forklift traffic or limit installation space.

While our standard safety height is 600 mm to meet global regulations, lower profiles (160–400 mm) are available for low-clearance or narrow-aisle environments. The common height options are as follows:
- For ordinary storage and light forklift projects, a height of 160–200 mm is commonly used.
- For logistics centers and medium-sized forklift projects, 300–400 mm is usually chosen.
- For heavy racks, high racks or heavy-load forklift operation areas, it is recommended to select a protection height of 400 mm or above to provide a larger protection range.
